Third Nerve Palsy

  • Caused by
    • mononeuritis multiplex (happens in DM)
    • Posterior or anterior communicating aneurysm
  • Results in:
    • Downward and outward deviation of the eye
    • Ptosis
    • Enlarged pupil

Horner’s Syndrome

  • Deinnervation of sympathetic fibres
  • Myosis (constricted pupil)
  • Ptosis,
  • Anhydrosis
  • Enopthalmus

Cause:

  • Brainstem stroke
  • Coning
  • Syringomyelia
  • Apical Lung cancer (pancoast tumour)
  • Cervical Rib
  • Brachial plexus trauma.
