Memory

This is the Derren Brown Method of remembering numbers:

First we give each number 0 – 9 a consonant

  • 0 = z/s (z is in zero and s is similar sound to z)
  • 1 = l (L  – they look similar)
  • 2 = n (two downstrokes in n)
  • 3 = m (three downward strokes in m)
  • 4 = r (fou”r”)
  • 5 = f / v (‘f’ i ‘v’ e – f and v sound similar)
  • 6 = b / p (b looks like 6 and p sounds similar to b)
  • 7 = T (7 looks a bit like a T)
  • 8 = ch / sh / j (eight – the gh sound is like the ch j sound)
  • 9 = g (looks similar when witten)

So in order to use lear a few numbers you put the letters together then fill in vowels. For example Derren Brown relates a story where he needed to learn room numbers for his assistant and make up artist. His assistant, coops I remember was NoSe MaTt – (I’m just doing this as I remember it) the number was 2037 – but he just remembers him welcoming him over a nose mat, the make up girl was remembered with LiVe MouSe – which was 1530… simples.

To make this system even better, he next he takes these numbers and beefs them out to make each one be a word:

  • 0 = z/s = zoo
  • 1 = l – ale
  • 2 = n = hen
  • 3 = m = ham
  • 4 = r = whore
  • 5 = v / f  = hive
  • 6 = b/p = bee
  • 7 = t = tea
  • 8 = ch/sh/j = shoe
  • 9  = g = goo

Then to get to double digits you use combine the numbers:

  • 10 = l,s =  lice
  • 11 = l,l = lilly
  • 12 = l,n = line
  • 13 = l, m = lime
  • 14 = l,r = lorry
  • 15 = l, v/f = laugh
  • 16 = l , p/b = lip
  • 17 = l,t = light
  • 18 = l,ch/sh/j = ledge (just cons it’s easier to think of than latch)
  • 19 = l,g = leg

  • 20 = n,s/z = nose
  • 21 = n,l =  nail
  • 22 = n, n = nun
  • 23 = n,m = gnome
  • 24 = n, r = nero

  • 25 = n, f/v = knife
  • 26 = n, p/b = nob
  • 27 = n, t = knight
  • 28 = n, ch/sh/j = notch
  • 29 = n, g = nag

  • 30 = m,z/s = moss
  • 31 = m,l = mail
  • 32 = m,n = money
  • 33 = m,m = mum
  • 34 = m,r = merry
  • 35 = m,v /f =  muff
  • 36 = m,b /p = map
  • 37 = m,t = mat
  • 38 = m,ch/sh/j = match
  • 39 = m,g = mag

  • 40 =  r,s/z =rose
  • 41 = r,l = rail
  • 42 = r,n =rain
  • 43  = r,m = ram
  • 44 = r,r = roar
  • 45 = r,v/f = rave
  • 46 = r,b/p = rape
  • 47 = r,t = rat
  • 48 = r,ch/j/sh = retcg
  • 49 = r,g =rag

  • 50 = v/f,s/z =fuse
  • 51 = v/f,l = fall
  • 52 = v/f,n =fan
  • 53 = v/f,m = fume
  • 54 = v/f,r = fair
  • 55 = v/f,v/f = faff = Jim Murray
  • 56 = v/f,b/p =
  • 57 = v/f,t = vat
  • 58 = v/f,ch/sh/j =
  • 59 = v/f,g =

  • 60 = bus
  • 61 = bull
  • 62 = bun
  • 63 = bum

Well anywaaaaaay….

I want to use this system somehow to remember the paeds values in the traffic light system.

The ones to remember are:

  • respiratory: Amber:  6-12 months, more than 50 breaths a minute
  • Respirartory: Amber: more than 12 months, more than 40 breaths a minute
  • Respiratory: Red: More than 60 breaths a minute
  • Respirartory: Amber: Oxygen sats less than 95%
  • Circulation / hydration: Amber ; less than 12 month, more than 160 beats
  • Circulation / hydration: Amber: 12 -24 months, more than 150beats
  • Circulation / hydration: Amber: 2 – 5 years more than 140 beats
  • Cap refil > 3seconds
  • Temp, 3-6months > 39C
  • Temp more than 5 days
  • Less than 3 months temp of more than 38C

Breathing: Mark Williams (mindfullness = breath)

  • respiratory: Amber:  6-12 months, more than 50 breaths a minute
    • 6-12 = bee-line = fuse. Mark williams, wearing an orange suit, in beccas house making a BeeLine to the fuse box
  • Respirartory: Amber: more than 12 months, more than 40 breaths a minute
    • 13 and over = Mark Williams, wearing an orange suit, balancing a LiMe on a RoSe
  • Respiratory: Red: More than 60 breaths a minute.
    • Buddist master (mindful and concentrating on breath = respiratory) wearing a red robe (red traffic light), catching a red bus (bus = 60)
  • Respirartory: Amber: Oxygen sats less than 95%
    • Mark Williams wearing his orange suit looking at goofys finger probe
  • Circulation / hydration: Amber ; less than 12 month, more than 160 beats
    • Gels = runs with her camelback = hydration/circulation =
    • Gels wearing an orange running top (circulation/hydration), Pulling  lambs (160) on the zip LINE (12)
  • Circulation / hydration: Amber: 12 -24 months, more than 150beats
