Fraser Guidelines

Young Person is considered competent to consent to contraceptive advice/treatment if:

  • They understand the doctor’s advice
  • They cannot be persuaded to inform their parents or allow the doctor to inform their parents
  • They are likely to start or continue sex with or without contraceptive treatment
  • Their physical and/or mental health are likely to deteriorate if contraceptive advice / treatment is not given
  • Their best interests require the doctor to give advice/treatment without parental consent
