Developmental Red Flags

Red flags in child development are warning signs indicating there may be developmental delay:

Birth To 3 months

  • Persistent fisting prior to three months
  • Rolling prior to three months

4 – 6 Months

  • Absent smile by 10 weeks
  • Failure to reach for objects by 5 months

6 – 12 Months

  • Persistence of primative reflexes after 6 months

12 – 24 Months

  • Hand dominance before 13 months (may indicate hemiparesis)
  • Not walking unsupported by 18 months
  • Using a spoon develops around 12 – 15months
