Features:

  • Rapid Onset
  • High Temperature,
  • Generally unwell
  • Stridor
  • Drooling of saliva

Caused by Haemophilus Influenzae type B 

Prompt recognition and treatment essential as airway obstruction may develop.

Previously considered a disease of childhood but in UK is now more common in adults due to the immunisation program – the HiB vaccine has reduced the incidence.
